Do you normally let your fuel tank run out before refilling your car? Or do you visit the gas station before the guage hits empty? When our child's "tank" is empty, they "signal" with behaviors that are a desperate attempt to get their needs met. We often mistake their signals for "bad behavior" which we immediately try to shut down. When we do, it's like getting frustrated at our car's fuel light for blinking. Like trying to get the signal to turn off instead of heading for the nearest gas station to give our car what it needs. So what do you do when your child's signals are going off? Listen now to learn how to fill their tank!

As humans, we all have the same basic needs, from food and shelter to safety, belonging, and love. When we dig into the 4 temperaments, we learn that "safety" may look different to a Blue than a Yellow, and "belonging" looks different for Greens than for Reds. But as you learn how to speak your child's language, you'll be able to pour into their innate needs and build them up in their God-given identity.

Welcome to season 6! We're reading A Grown-Up's Guide to Kids' Wiring by Kathleen Edelman (and we think you should be too!) The idea that people typically have one of four unique "temperaments" is not new. It's been around since at least 400 B.C. and has been influential ever since. In episode 1 we explore the fact that we have unique and God-given wiring, and so do our kids. We'll get a brief introduction to the 4 temperaments and discuss why our expectations are the real problem (not our kids). This book will help us unlock ways to connect with our children, and teach us how to use our words as a gift to their hearts. Join the conversation!
